We designed the Heart & Home Project to be as inclusive as possible. Anyone who works in the skilled trades (full-time and part-time) can qualify for the $500 homebuyer credit in Michigan.
For this promotion, skilled trades would be defined as anyone with a hands-on career that requires specialized technical training, certification, licensure, or an apprenticeship, across multiple industries. That could be Construction & Building, Automotive & Transportation, Manufacturing & Industrial, Agriculture & Outdoor, and Service. There is a super wide range of jobs that would qualify, including electricians, welders, mechanics, machine technicians, chefs, childcare workers, and so much more. Because there are so many jobs that would qualify, the best bet if you’re really unsure would be to just reach out and ask.
Spouses of skilled trade employees also qualify, even if their spouse isn’t planning to be on the mortgage. In that case, just provide simple proof of employment, like a recent pay stub or W-2 form, and we’ll take care of the rest.
If you are not in the qualifying group but still looking to buy a home, Treadstone does have other low down payment options or mortgage credits that you may qualify for. Connect with one of our Loan Officers to find out what would work for your unique situation.
