John Polakovich

John Polakovich is a Mortgage Loan Officer at Treadstone Funding’s Grand Rapids office, trained over three years directly under Co-Founder Kevin Polakovich. Licensed in Michigan and Illinois, John serves buyers throughout Grand Rapids, Caledonia, Saranac, Kalamazoo, Kentwood, Wyoming, Ada, Cascade, and beyond with a family-first approach to lending shaped by his decision to leave a globetrotting sales career and come home to his community.

A decade in consultative sales had taken John all over the world, but the birth of his first son encouraged him to make a career change. Not only did he want to be more present with his family in Grand Rapids, but he also wanted the opportunity to work within the community where he was born and raised.

In 2017, John began an extensive three-year loan officer apprenticeship at Treadstone under the mentorship of Kevin Polakovich. This allowed John to learn the mortgage business from the ground up, gaining hands-on experience across every stage of the mortgage process before becoming a loan officer himself.

John’s approach to lending starts with people. He believes lending is about more than just the mortgage—it’s about getting to know his clients, understanding what they’re trying to accomplish, and helping them find the right path to homeownership. He combines that personal approach with strong attention to detail and a commitment to doing things the right way. John takes pride in being someone his clients can rely on for honest guidance, clear communication, and a straightforward lending experience.

John and his wife, Ivana, have three young boys that are the absolute light of their lives. When John isn’t working, you can usually find him surrounded by family and friends, coaching or watching his boys in one sport or another. His idea of a perfect night is sitting amongst friends, enjoying great food, music on, cocktail in hand, telling stories, and laughing. For John and Ivana, there’s always room for one more at the table.

John specializes in Conventional Loans, FHA Loans, move-up buyer financing, investment property loans, and refinance transactions across Greater Grand Rapids.
