A decade in consultative sales had taken John all over the world, but the birth of his first son encouraged him to make a career change. Not only did he want to be more present with his family in Grand Rapids, but he also wanted the opportunity to work within the community where he was born and raised.

After some serious soul searching about his new career path, John decided to take a risk and leave behind his successful, globetrotting career for a more meaningful one. In 2017, John started the extensive loan officer training program at Treadstone under the mentorship of Kevin Polakovich, owner of Treadstone, and one of the most successful loan officers in the country.

For three years, he worked to learn the ins and outs of the residential mortgage process, learning every role from set-up, to processing before joining Kevin’s team as a loan officer assistant and, finally, becoming a loan officer. He was committed to mastering each aspect of the loan process in order to be the best loan officer possible for his clients.

John is a people person—through and through—and he has a genuine care for people. This care combined with his attention to detail and thoroughness truly sets him apart as a loan officer. John is committed to finding each client the best mortgage option for their situation through a customer-first lending experience. Working diligently and listening intently, John prides himself on making the lending process as seamless as possible for each of his clients.

When John isn’t working, you can usually find him surrounded by family and friends, playing or watching one sport or another. His idea of a perfect night is sitting amongst friends, enjoying great food, cocktail in hand, telling stories, and laughing. When it comes to guests, the motto at the Polakovich household is, “the more the merrier!” John and his wife, Ivana, have two young boys, Oliver and Luka, and they are the absolute light of their lives.
