David DeWeerdt

Loan Officer, NMLS 2052976

Originally from Dubuque, Iowa, Dave ended up in Grand Rapids and the mortgage industry by what seems like fate. After graduating from the University of Iowa, Dave moved to Chicago where he got his first job in the mortgage business, and where he met his future wife. One night while walking their dogs near Wrigley Field, Dave met Becky, a Grand Rapids native, and before long they decided to relocate to her hometown after nearly 20 years in the windy city.

Although the mortgage industry was not his initial career plan, Dave knew it was where he was meant to be. He was a natural at connecting with others and loved helping people achieve their goals. Once he connected with the owners of a local mortgage company in Grand Rapids, it was a no brainer for him to continue his career at Treadstone.

To Dave, being a Loan Officer is about more than mortgages; it’s about getting to know people and helping them navigate major life changes. Whether a first home purchase or a refinance, each client has a story— and he strives to be a calming and empowering presence along the way.

With many years of experience, Dave’s expertise and care set him apart. He has been told he has the heart and patience of a teacher, and his ability to talk through the mortgage process in a digestible way make him invaluable to new buyers and buyers with unique circumstances. No matter the situation, Dave seeks first to understand the “why” behind his client’s purchase. This enables him to create personalized, tailored solutions and a loan program that works for each client.

Personally, Dave’s greatest joy is his family. Dave and Becky now have two children, Greta and Mary, and a lab named Opal. Although his hands are full raising two little ones, when he gets the chance, Dave loves to fish, play tennis, attend rock concerts, and watch college football and baseball. He considers this chapter of his life the best yet!
